Color Corrector for Under Eye Darkness - Kryolan Brush - On Concealer- Shade 6 - Review and Swatches

Kryolan concealers are hands down the best concealer for dark under eye circles available in India (for that matter anywhere). I have two of them, Kryolan Brush-On Concealer in Shade 6, and Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage Creme in shade DFD. Read on tho know why I made the claim "best under eye concealer". Will soon review the second concealer as well. I use this particular shade (06) as a corrector.

I have very dark under eye area. The pigmentation is so dark that it is almost brown under eye.  I have tried many concealers and corrector like Bobbi Brown Corrector (which I have also reviewed), Mac, Cover FX, MUFE, YSL etc. which gave me okay results. In normal world, I would say that they are good and people should use them. But in my case they are just okay, I always feel the need of "just-a-bit-more".

I LOVE mascaras. If I could had only one make product for my entire life, it will be a mascara. I can't think of living without these. I mascara opens up the eyes and brings life to the face. It instantly transforms the sleepy face to a more awake look.
I haven't tried many high end mascaras as I think that drugstore brands often do a decent job. Product Review - Neutrogena - Oil Free Makeup Remover - Review

I usually use baby oil or olive oil to remove my makeup .. yes it is a little time consuming but it does a pretty decent job. Recently, I went to stay at my in-laws home for a wedding function, I wore light makeup almost daily and finding oil and using it got a little painful. Meanwhile I happened to go to a local store who stocked genuine international makeup, I got my eyes on this product. Well I have heard great things about this product but never picked it up while I was in US/UK as I was satisfied with olive oil . My Experience Faces Cosmetics Ultime Pro Shine On Eyeliner in Emerald Dazzel:

I love the color of the eyeliner. Its metallic green but the shade looks perfect for all skin tones. It doesn't screams out that I am wearing a colored liner. I looks very neutral when worn with a black kohl and is very forgiving shade. Although the shade is quite pigmented but I need two coats to get the solid color.

The staying power of this eyeliner is amazing. It wears for all day long. I have worn it for 8-10 hrs atleast on 4-5 different occasions. It stays there without moving or smudging or peeling.I even wore it in drizzling rain and the color didn't move at all. It is quite water resistant.  

While removing, it does not create much problem. I just use my usual face wash to wash my face and this liner easily come out without leaving any stains. 

I prefer using brush as an applicator but the felt tip pen is very easy to work with. The long handle gives a good grip and complete control on the applicator. 

Pros:

• Felt Tip Applicator,
• Long Handle,
• Color will look good on all skin tones,
• Consistency
• Staying power - 8-10 hr
• No Flaking,
• No Smudging,
• Does not cause any stinging.

Cons:

• Pigmentation is slightly less than expectation. It need two coats to get full coverage.

  

Last Words:

It is a beautiful color, can be easily worn without it screaming out loud. Will suit most of the skin tones.

Product Review - Faces Ultime Pro Shocking Volume Mascara

Mascara has been my favorite piece of makeup since ever. It’s one makeup product I cannot live without.  I have very thin lashes so I prefer using mascara which can give me loads of volume and can open up my eyes. 

I don’t like to experiment with mascaras as I like sticking to my favorites.

I recently tried Faces Ultime Pro Shocking Volume Mascara. The words – “Shocking Volume” always attract me, I fantasize about fluttering fuller lashes… Please read ahead to know whether I actually get that effect or not…

What Faces Cosmetics says about the product:

Outrageous volume for an incredible you! Curved spiral wand ensures super dramatic volume. Infused fibers give a deep black finish. Nourishing ingredients volumize and strengthen lashes. Absolutely water resistant, lasts all day.

Packaging:

Black shiny, sleek and round tube packaging. It has a decent long handle for better control. The mascara brush is unique feature; it is not straight as usual mascara wand, rather this product wand is curved. The curved wand is good for poker straight lashes. It gives a soft lifting effect to the lashes.

How to use the curved wand?

Generally people think that cupping the lashes in the curve of the wand is the correct method of using this type of wand. But the right way is to use the curve facing downwards. Placing the wand, with curve facing downwards, on the bottom of the lashes and pull it up, towards the end of the lashes. The wand will create soft curve in the lashes.

Product:

The formula is deep intense black colored and when I first used was liquid-y. It claims to be Water – Resistant.   It coats the lashes well and dries up pretty quick on the lashes. After one month product dried up a little making it thicker and now gives a little better volume than before

My experience Faces Ultime Pro Shocking Volume Mascara:

Product:

Freshly opened product clumps a little and clubs my lashes making them look a little spikey. BUT, after a period of one month the product has dried up a little and the formula now is a little thicker. Now it gives a better look, it imparts better volume than before now. I would say that it is more of a lengthening mascara than a volumizing one.

It clumps slightly. And makes my lashes look slightly spikey. I prefer using a lash separator comb later to separate my lashes.

I wore this mascara for about a month. What I loved about the product was the way it held the curls all day long. It did not smudge or flake all day long. I even happened to wear it while it was drizzling (raining) and the mascara survived the drizzle too. It has amazing water resistant properties.

While removing the mascara I did not face any problem at all. It came off easily with a normal face wash. I didn’t have to use an eye makeup remover. None of my lashes break during the process. My major concern with water proof mascara is that when I remove the product, the process breaks my lashes. But fortunately, I didn’t have to face this problem with this mascara.

  

Wand:

The concept of curved wand is great. The wand works pretty well in creating a lifting effect. But, it’s difficult to get to the inner lashes. Although the wand has a tapered end but it needs lot of practice get to the inner lashes without over applying the product on the center lashes.  And if you have smaller lower lashes like mine, then probably you’ll need a very steady hand to apply the mascara on lower lashes. But it does a pretty decent job in elongating the lashes.

Pros:

• Curved wand gives soft curl without using eye lash curler.
• Deep and intense black color.
• Formula gets better with time.
• Elongates lashes pretty well.
• Long handle for easy use.
• Stays all day.
• No smudging, No flaking.
• Survives a rain drizzle.
• No lashes fallout while removing the mascara.
• Mascara comes out easily with plain water and a face wash.

Cons:

• Formula is more like of and elongating mascara rather that “Shocking Volume”.
• The inside of tube needs a little separator which can squeeze out the excess product from the brush.

Last words:

The formula is like a wine, gets better with time. Within one or two weeks after the package is opened the formula is perfect to use. It makes a great everyday use mascara. Don’t expect “Shocking Volume” but a fuller, lifted and elongated lash look is what you get.

A Complete Guide to Mac Concealers

After choosing a correct foundation, Choosing the correct concealer is the most time consuming step.

Concealers are needed for covering different flaws like Under eyes darkness, pigmentation, scars, acne etc.

Different concealers cater to different needs and different formulations serve different purposes. There are huge variety of finishes, textures and formulations available at Mac, so I thought it might be easier to explain the uses of different textures and formulations.

Mac Studio Finish SPF 35:

• Packaging: Black plastic tub packaging with a transparent flip open lid.
• Texture: Cream
• Coverage: Full Opaque Coverage
• Finish: Natural Matte but a slight shine, somewhere between a Matte and Satin finish
• SPF: 35
• Skin Type: All Expect very oily and very dry skin
• Staying Power: 6+hrs
• Price:  INR 1300 for 7gm

Personal Note:  Although this is a cream based product with absorbs all the oils and gives a natural matte finish. The texture is little tight an tough to blend if not warmed up by fingers. When warmed between fingers it applies super easily. This product covers like a dream. It covers everything from acne to under eyes darkness with ease. This product is good for variety of skin textures, but very oily and dry scaly skinned people should avoid using this. It can exaggerate the dryness on the skin if not blended well. You have set it with a powder well and it will not move a lot. But yes it does creases in a while, but then it depends on how well you set the product. I personally own this product, but I have a wrong shade (NW35). On my recent visit to Mac store the MUA applied a darker shade an showed me the difference, It almost vanished my dark circles. But can be a cakey if not blended well.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer:

• Packaging: Bottle Packaging with a pump
• Texture: Liquid
• Coverage: Medium to Full Coverage

• Skin Type: All esp.good for oily skin, not good for very dry skin
• Staying Power: 12+hrs
• Price:  INR 1300 for 9ml

Personal Note:  This product comes with a pump which is the biggest flaw of the packaging. Lot of product gets wasted due to excessive product flow. The texture of this product is creamy liquid with runny consistency. It comes out as a creamy liquid but settles quickly as a absolute matte concealer.  For moderate dark circles this has an excellent coverage. It covers acne scars and pigmentation pretty well too. The down side of this product is that it dries to quickly and you need to blend it before that. The product has extreme matte finish, which may appeal to few people. I think it will really work well as a tinted moisturizer (mixing it with a moisturizer). As a Under eye concealer I like the finish pretty good and natural. Unlike Studio Finish, Pro Longwear has a very light feeling as if nothing is applied.

Mac Select Moisture Cover Concealer:

• Packaging: Bottle Packaging with a doe foot applicator
• Texture: Liquid in creamy consistency, moisturizing
• Coverage: Medium Coverage
• Finish: Natural Satin finish
• SPF: No
• Skin Type: Dry skin, Combination & Normal skin
• Staying Power: 6-8 hrs
• Price:  INR 1300 for 5ml

Personal Note:  This product comes with a doe foot applicator. Moisturizing concealer and is good for under eye area. It has a very illuminating effect and brightens up the under eye area. It needs to be set with the powder as it creases pretty easily. Dry skin people will love this concealer. It is not for oily skin. The coverage is decent and is good for moderate dark circles. I personally liked this better for under eyes rather than covering pigmentation and acne scars.

• Texture: Liquid with slightly gel like consistency, moisturizing

• Skin Type: Dry skin, Combination & Normal skin
• Staying Power: upto 5 hrs
• Price:  INR 1450 for 5ml

Personal Note:  This product comes with a brush applicator. It has a very light texture and blends easily. I am not fond of its coverage. This product is particularly good for younger girls who don't need much coverage. It works well as a illuminator. It is not good for oily skin.

Personal Note:  I have mixed opinions about this product. I like the texture and finish of this product but the quantity to be used is little more than normal. It can be used on all the skin types and covers up almost everything. It requires a lot of setting with powder as well.

I hope this guide sorts out some confusion on what type of concealer to choose from for a particular problem.

Packaging:

Ingredients worth mentioning: 

Hespiridin Methyl Chalcone is used for fluid retention and increases the blood circulation, It is beneficial for puffiness around the eyes.

My Thoughts:

The serum is extremely light weight and easy to apply. It instantly gets absorbed into the skin and makes my under eyes feel brighten and tight. It cures the slight puffiness on my eyelids well. It doesn't leaves any whitish cast after it gets absorbed. It just takes tiny amount to cover up the entire under eye and lid area. On many occasions I have worn it under my makeup. I feel it helps the concealer stay better and stops it from creasing.

I have been using this product from around one month, I noticed that my under eye has started tightening up. 

Nothing major noticeable as yet, but these kind on problems take time to heal.

• Reduces Puffiness,
• In long run will work on wrinkles and darkness,

• Hypoallergenic  Non-Comedogenic

Cons:

• Will take time to work on wrinkles and darkness,
• Pricey
• Availability.

Last words : With those ingredients, this product is certainly bound to work. But as I mentioned earlier under eyes dont get cured easily. Its a long time consuming process. It may take more that couple of months to show results. And as for using it as wrinkle treatment, wrinkles are extremely difficult to reverse but this product has all the right ingredients for it. Moreover it can be used as a preventive treatment to delay the signs of aging. 

Will definitely repurchase this under eye serum.
